Many people will encounter a small problem when using silicone molds: demoulding is not smooth, and the work is easy to break or stick to the mold. Today we will share some practical silicone mold demoulding tips to help you easily complete every hand-made work!
1. Do a good job of anti-sticking before use
Although silicone itself has non-stick properties, it is easy to stick to the mold if the material is relatively soft or the temperature is too high. It is recommended to use before use:
Gently spray a layer of mold release agent (for plaster and resin materials)
Or apply a little cooking oil/butter (for baking molds)
Wipe the inside of the mold with kitchen paper to form a protective film
2. Control the cooling time
The timing of demoulding is very critical:
When making foods such as cakes and chocolates, be sure to wait until they are completely cooled before demoulding
When making aromatherapy and plaster molds, wait for the materials to harden and set, don't be impatient
3. Lift gently from the edge
First gently lift from the edge of the mold, and then slowly turn it down
If it is a complex pattern, you can use your fingers or small tools to gently push the bottom to assist demoulding
For larger molds,
you can first gently knead the mold around to help air enter the gap, and then peel it off as a whole
4. The refrigerator freezing method is also very useful
If you are using soft materials such as jelly, mousse cake, chocolate, etc., you can put the mold and the work into the refrigerator and freeze it for 10-20 minutes after cooling
The work is harder after freezing and will not deform when demoulding
It is not recommended to wait too long to avoid the food taste deteriorating or the mold becoming brittle
5. It is also important to keep the mold clean
After each use of the mold, be sure to clean it in time:
Wash gently with warm water + neutral detergent
Do not use sharp tools to scrape the surface of the mold to avoid scratches
Keep it dry and ventilated, the mold will have a longer service life
The demoulding problem of silicone molds is actually not difficult. As long as you master the above skills, demoulding will become easy and smooth.
